About Me

Collaborative efforts, collaborative success.

My name is Kay Jay Olson, and I am a music educator, vocal coach, performer, dancer and composer living and thriving in Minneapolis, MN!

I’m a recent graduate of Augsburg University where I earned my Master’s Degree in Education emphasizing teaching artistry in music. Previously, I attended the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse where I studied Musical Theatre Performance and went on to a year of conservatory work at the Theatre Lab School of Dramatic arts in Washington, DC.

I believe in a collaborative approach to music, performance and education, and am hoping to create more opportunities for marginalized groups in the Twin Cities and beyond to thrive and flourish in the performing arts. As an openly non-binary/genderqueer educator, I understand the importance of identity, safety, and sense of self in creative endeavors. I work to meet students where they are and to help them build up a wealth of skills that are related to their goals and dreams to ensure they reach their full potential! I focus on the individual and their goals, rather than a standard set of skills As a performer and composer, I believe in offering performance opportunities and roles that give performers from outside of the box to learn, grow, and flourish while experiencing the joy of performance for themselves.

Send me a message through my contact page to join my studio or for collaboration opportunities!
